READ JUDGES 7:4-8
BIBLE THOUGHT: "TRUST IN THE LORD WITH ALL YOUR HEART AND LEAN NOT ON YOUR OWN UNDERSTANDING" (PROVERBS 3:5, NIV). TOO OFTEN we depend on our own wits to get things done. For disciples of Jesus, leaving God out of our plans leaves us less prepared and vulnerable. Consider Gideon. Everything he did at God's bidding was anti-intuitive. Surely 22,000 armed troops would be far superior to 300 men with pots and trumpets. And what does ones drinking style at the river have to do with conquering an enemy force? God's methods don't seem to make any sense to us sometimes; we like to do it in a way that seems logical to us. But God's ways are not our ways. When we trust in our own devices we are admitting we don't trust God. If your tempted to tell a lie for convenience or if your feelings take over your character—stop! Listen to God. Father knows best—always has. No matter who or what your adversary, God and you will forever make a majority. 'The outcome of our war with Satan has already been determined. How so? Because we are on the Lord's side. Father, may we always trust You even when it doesn't seem to make sense to us. In Jesus' name. Amen.
